Peaceful escape, a world away from the town Charming secluded little place surrounded by lush gardens with lovely pool area, friendly helpful staff and great food. Just a short walk/bus to town so definitely worth being out near the lake and the tranquility. Very comfy rooms with lake outlook & bar fridge.

An Amazing Experience - Can't wait to return!! What an amazing experience!! First time to Sri Lanka and it won't be the last. Asian Jewel was so relaxing and had a great stay and will return again. The food was first class especially the Sri Lankan Curry and the Sunday roast. The rooms were really clean and well appointed. Dale and his staff fantastic and very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return!!

Lovely hotel, wonderful staff, excellent food, lots of birds/wildlife This was our second stay at Asian Jewel and it was every bit as enjoyable as the first. Our room (Jasmine) had a direct panoramic view of Bird Lake and we saw many different species of birds as well as small animals including chipmunks, water monitors, geckos (and a cobra one one day but soon banished by the staff...). The staff here are wonderful, friendly and welcoming and nothing too much trouble, and the food is excellent with both Sri Lankan and British options. We are vegetarians and they went out of their way to adapt meals pretty much to whatever suits, but the star of the show is the Sri Lankan rice and curry. It is in a peaceful location but only a short and cheap tuk tuk ride - around £1.75 - into the more hectic beach area.We would strongly recommend.

A must visit! The rooms are a little tired and dated, but the whole experience of this hidden gem is fantastic. By far, the best food served in Hikkaduwa..... The only place to experience the Authentic Local Curry!!!! Amazing. Dale and his staff are absolutely great, Overlooks a lovely lake, while only a short tuk tuk away from the main beach area. This is a must visit, also welcomes guests for lunch or Dinner. you wont be disappointed!

A little Gem of a find.... Amazing Hotel...a 2 minute tut tut ride from the main drag...Beautiful swimming pool overlooking a lovely Lagoon...My room was spotless with Amazing views...The Food is Amazing... English @ Sri Lankan food the best we had in Hikkaduwa....Lastly the Manager Dale a English guy and the other staff couldn't do enough for you...We will definitely be coming back next year... Superb place....

A little jewel indeed@ Although the rooms are a little dated, they are clean and spacious with a lovely large terrace in a lovely location overlooking a beautiful lake. We really enjoyed the view whilst having our morning coffee and saw various birds and parrots. The rooms are actually above a restaurant and just 7 minutes from town via tuk tuk. So if you are looking for character with a lovely chilled garden pool area look no further! All the staff are so friendly and the food is beyond delicious- as well as having a lovely breakfast here each morning, we enjoyed a fresh tuna salad and their amazing Sri Lankan curry. We enjoyed our stay here!

Definitely recommend We ate at the restaurant on the last day of our 2 week trip. It wasn’t busy as it was the off season. However, they were really accommodating and stayed open to serve dinner later than they would usually have done. The food was fantastic - It was undoubtedly the best curry we had in our whole trip. Definitely recommend!

A lovely friendly place to relax around a pool away from the tourist resorts Probably save our marriage, a little oasis of calm with a good restaurant after the disappointment of Unawatuna with the boom boom music until day light and poor quality food on offer at 95% of the bars and eating place we tried, just extended our stay before going to to Columbo for a few days and then back to Goa

Fabulous memories First called in this beautiful hotel for a meal with friend's on a recomondation,such a beautiful setting overlooking the river,peace itself,liked it so much we booked three room's for my husband's birthday,room's are beautifully furnished big comfortable beds,big bathrooms and all have stunning view's,Dale the owner made us so welcome and nothing was to much trouble, he arranged a beautiful birthday cake and the food was excellent throughout our stay,lovely pool set in the garden to relax around, couldn't ask for more,,definitely will return,,

Great Food with a view We went to Asian Jewel last March and returned again today. Nothing has changed still the best in Hikkaduwa. We had a fab sunday lunch and spent the day in and around the pool. The food was top notch. The staff were great. Ended up staying until late evening. Definitely a recommendation too all. Dale and the team just make it work.
